Our client is a public services provider based in Derry, they are seeking a Health Care Engineering Manager for their estates management service.  As a member of the Estates Management Team the jobholder will provide strong professional leadership to his/her department, will contribute to overall policy development and will play a full role in the management and development of an effective and efficient Estates Management service.

This is a temporay post initally for 2 months with the possibilty of it becoming a longer duration. 

Monday - Friday 9 am to 5pm, based at their headquarters in Derry. 

The role itself;

  • Responsible for the delivery of safe, high quality, customer focused services and a well-maintained environment to support patient and client care and good clinical practice.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable Trust policies, Statutory Standards and Health Service guidance and the development and implementation of all estates and facilities procedures, programmes and strategies.
  • Responsible for the management of estate risks including risk assessment, development of prioritised treatment plans, preparation of resource bids and implementation of action plans.
  • Provide professional and technical advice on the procurement of medical devices and support to clinical professionals in all aspects of the management of medical devices.
  • Responsible for medical equipment asset management including maintenance of an up to date asset register.
  • Assist the Head of Procurement in conjunction with the Head of Performance Management and Business Support.
  • Ensure Estates Medical Engineering and Decontamination Services strategies and objectives take cognisance of national and regional standards.
  • Provide specialist input to ensure that estate management and associated functions achieve service objectives.

The ideal candidate must have the following;

  • HNC/HND or equivalent in either:
  • Electrical Engineering or
  • Mechanical Engineering or
  • Building Services Engineering or
  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering or
  • Equivalent of above
  • A minimum of 5 years post qualification experience at Band 6 level or equivalent, which includes

Project Management and /or Management of Maintenance in Building Services, Equipment and Management of Staff


Degree in either:

  • Electrical Engineering or
  • Mechanical Engineering or
  • Building Services Engineering or
  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering or
  • Equivalent of above

And have

  • A minimum of 4 years post qualification experience at band 6 level or equivalent, which includes
  • Project Management and/or Management of Operations and Maintenance of Building Services Equipment and Management of Staff.
  • In addition applicants must also demonstrate evidence of the following:
  • Evidence of personal responsibility / accountability for delivering and achieving effective and efficient improvements at Departmental/Trust level.Evidence of people management and financial budgetary management
  • Demonstrate leadership, delegation and decision making skills in a multi-professional environment.
