We require a head accountant for our client based in Derry/Londonderry.  The post holder will provide a leading contrubution to the efficient delivery of the full range of financial functions within the organisation. This will include the providion of expert financial advise to directors and other senior members. 

This is a temporary post for 6 months initially however there may be view for extension. 

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Leading on significant aspects of the efficient, effective and economic use of the financial allocations  to ensure the best possible use of the budget.
  • Leading on significant aspects of the development of local policy for organisations financial strategy and financial planning in the short, medium and long term.
  • Leading on significant aspects of the development of local approaches to changing Local/National Policy as it relates to financial issues.
  • Working with Senior Key Finance staff in a range of organisations to ensure delivery of the planned financial position each year.
  • This will be achieved through financial performance management of the organisation and a rigorous approach to all possible financial flexibilities.
  • Provision of strategic financial advice on significant business cases across the region for the provision of infrastructure.
  • Leading on significant aspects of the performance management arrangements in respect of revenue and capital to support the operational and strategic objectives of the organisation.
  • Providing leadership to own team within the Finance Directorate.

 

Criteria

  • CCAB recognised full professional accountancy qualification
  • 4 years experience gained in a major complex organisation reporting to an Assistant Director, Head of Section or equivalent
  • Delivered against challenging financial management programmes for a minimum of 3 years meeting a full range of key targets and making significant improvements;
  • Worked with a diverse range of stakeholders, both internal and external to the organisation, to achieve successful outcomes for a minimum of 3 years;
  • Demonstrates evidence of expert financial skills and knowledge in one or more of the following areas: financial management, financial performance management and commissioning.
  • Demonstrated evidence of providing leadership in a change environment.
  • Delivered against challenging financial management programmes for a minimum of 3 years meeting a full range of key targets and making significant nimprovements;
  • Worked with a diverse range of stakeholders, both internal and external to the organisation, to achieve successful outcomes for a minimum of 3 years;
  • Demonstrates evidence of expert financial skills and knowledge in one or more of the following areas: financial management, financial performance management and commissioning.
  • Demonstrated evidence of providing leadership in a change environment
